2008 iMac no power

When I plug it in the first green light on the motherboard turns on and when I press the power button nothing happens. No fan spin or display. There is also a very faint popping/clicking sound coming from the power supply.

Brand new iMac won't power on I have just unpacked a brand new iMac 24-inch, model A2438, and it simply won't power on. The cables are put in correctly, the plug is in the socket and on. The screen remains blank and black. There is no chime, nothing. I have tried pressing the power button for different periods of time, using different plugs, unplugging the machine for different periods of time, and so on, and it simply does not respond. There appears to be no damage to the machine. This is not my first iMac so I am very confused. Is this a known issue with this model?

My iMac had a loud popping noise and now is completely dead Everything was working beautifully then suddenly I heard a loud popping sound and the screen went black and the computer was dead. I tried all the solutions and still dead!!! [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Mid 2011 iMac suddenly won't turn on...? Hi, I wonder if you could help me? I have a Mid 2011 iMac and that suddenly yesterday wouldn’t turn on. There is no start up sound, the screen doesn’t light up... nothing... the only thing I can hear when I plug it in even without pressing the button is a very slight click noise... every...I'm not sure... maybe 30 seconds... give or take... Any ideas what could be happening and what the clicking noise is? Is there anything I am able to try in order to get it going again? I am also not afraid to take the computer to pieces, I have taken other thing apart before... Also, if I can't get it to work am I able to extract the data off the hard drive? Any suggestions? Pops and clicks emanating from the power supply are not normal. Replace it.
