I have added dozens of things to my wallet--movie tickets, airplane passes, concert tickets, but now I have an issue with tickets for an upcoming sporting event. They just do not go into the wallet. I have restarted my phone and I am up to date on the OS.I guess I can always pull up the tickets when I get to the event but that kind of defeats the purpose of "add to wallet"

The card/ticket issuer must enable the "Add to Apple Wallet" feature.

That wasn't the issue. They do have it enabled.
Turned out that the problem was that I don't use Safari--I use Firefox. I switched back to Safari and they loaded just fine. I'll have to remember this for future issues.
How do I take off Firefox off to download tickets
You don't need to take Firefox off--just change the default browser to Safari for awhile. In the settings there is a tab for Safari to make it your default browser.
