Area code display and calling

Just updated to IOS 16.6 and noticed that my iPhone is formatting all area codes incorrectly when dialing. Specifically, area code will split the phone number after the first two digits, then show two groups of 4 digits. So, instead of (555) 555- 5555, it will show (55) 5555-5555. The calls DO NOT go through, and all of my contacts have their phone numbers formatted correctly. I cannot receive calls either.

iPhone 6, iOS 12

Hello Ladymar55,

Based on what you've shared your iPhone contacts may be formatting to another region. We recommend reviewing your settings as outlined here: Change the language and region on iPhone - Apple Support

Should the behavior persist we recommend working directly with your carrier. You can review your carriers support page by selecting your region then their name here: Wireless carrier support and features for iPhone in the United States and Canada - Apple Support

Take care.
