hot corners stop working - Ventura 13.4.1

I set hot corners to bring up mission control. It stopped working. I rebooted. It still didn't work. When I bring up settings, there it is: "mission control". But it doesn't work.

Also, typing in "hot corners" in the support page brought up "if your mac feels hot". Good grief.

You might want to Download the Application Etrecheck. This is a Diagnostic Tool creates a detailed report of both the Hardware and Software used on the computer. The application is free but also has a paid version that has added features. This will allow contributors here to see if perhaps there is something on your computer that might be causing the problem.

If you type "hot corners" in the upper search field in System Settings, it will take you to the correct place.

Also, The most current version of Ventura is now 13.5. (One caveat, there are several bugs in 13.5. The one most noticeable is the removal of being able to set individual apps to use location services).

That should take care of it but if not, try safe mode:

I've identify a proximate cause. I have two Apple Thunderbolt displays, of slightly different vintage. One is at home and one is at work. I habitually use my MBP with the display plugged in via lightning(thunderbolt?)/USB-C adapter, with a logitech wireless keyboard RF xceiver and cheap optical mouse plugged into the USB hub in the display. When I transition between home and work, I unplug at one end and re-plug into the other display when I get there.

This has caused problems before. A couple of years ago the OS would crash occasionally when I went in one of the directions (don't remember which direction) - maybe a watchdog timeout, I can't remember. IIRC, I had to wait for the next update or two before it was fixed.

Anyway, last night hot corners were not working at home. When I plugged in at work today, they are working again. Maybe it has to do with the fact that the display USB hubs are older 2.0? Dunno, but since that's been the problem before, it's my prime suspect.

I guess I'll have to call support - when I have some extra time.

Um, I was not searching in support to find how to set up hot corners. I was searching (in the wrong place) to see if others had experienced this problem. Once I searched in the community, I found that indeed, others had had their hot corners settings randomly stop working (in Monterey and Big Sur).

So, bug NOT fixed in going to Ventura, so I don't expect it will be fixed by 13.4->13.5.
