Car Play not giving navigation voice directions on Apple Maps

I own a Mazda CX9 and my husband has an iPhone XR and I have a 13. His phone had no audio on GPS for Apple Car Play but mine has no problem. I think it might be an apple bug with the XR’s. I took the advice of some of the comments and switched over to Waze for him. Sure enough, audio worked on Waze and I am sure Google. So it does not work with Apple Maps. I guess we will have to wait for a fix.
