Flickering Touch Bar and kernel panic on MacBook Pro 2020

Each of these issues has been reported numerous times but I haven't seen them reported together - don't know if they're related but they started at around the same time (a year ago or so).

When hooked up to monitors through a hub it works perfectly.

When I travel and use the lap top as a lap top (ie. open the lid use it, shut the lid) it will create the kernel panic and flickering touch bar. The kernel panic > shut down > reboot happens 2-4 times within 10 minutes then stabilizes. The only way to avoid this is to shut down (sleep or lock screen doesn't help) before shutting the lid. It is not related to having just been disconnected from the hub. It happens when I've been separated from the hub and using continuously for weeks.

Is there a fix for this? I've rebuilt the system, cleared out a bunch of stuff and nothing helps.

This issue was solved by replacing:

  • the logic board
  • top case with battery
  • touch ID board

under Applecare warranty.
