iPhone connecting to AirPods while in case

My phone keeps connecting to my AirPods when they aren’t anywhere nearby! I’m inside my house right now. The AirPods are in my truck. In the driveway, not even in the garage. So it’s not like I’m anywhere near them. And once it connects I can’t get it to disconnect. It keeps popping back and forth on its own. I have no way of going to the sound control to tell it to go back to speaker or iPhone instead of the AirPods that are nowhere near me!!!

(And yes I went out there to make sure the case was closed and the AirPods were nice and tight in the case)

No ma'am, I want my phone to stop trying to connect to my AirPods when my AirPods aren't even anywhere near by!!! I thought I explained that. The AirPods were in my truck. in their case. I was in my house. in my kitchen on my phone. NO WHERE NEAR my truck or the AirPods...... so why in the crap do they keep trying to connect. I even get notifications that my AirPods have been left behind when they are actually in my hand????

Hello LuvlyRita67,

It seems like you want to prevent automatic switching with your AirPods, is that correct? If so, please check out this link, which explains how to turn that feature off and may be helpful: Switch your AirPods to another device

Turn off automatic switching

If you don't want your AirPods to switch automatically, you can turn off automatic switching on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV.

On your iPhone or iPad

1. With your AirPods in your ears and connected to your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Bluetooth. Alternatively, you can go to Settings > [your AirPods].
2. Tap the More Info button  next to your AirPods in the list of devices.
3. Tap Connect to This iPhone [or iPad].
4. Tap When Last Connected to This iPhone [or iPad].
5. To turn on this feature again, tap Automatically.

Thanks!
