How do I add a shortcut to a specific folder and mount it on my iPhone home screen?

Hi all. I know this has been asked before but it hasn't worked for me.

I'm new to the Shortcuts app for iPhone and I want to click on an icon on my home screen to open a folder from my Files app (to show various files). Latest iPhone version is 16.5.1.

Here's what I do:

-Open iPhone Shortcuts app and click '+'

-New Shortcut and rename it ('SMF Folder').

-Add Action > Documents > Get Contents of Folder

-Click on 'Folder' > navigate to target folder > click OPEN, click DONE.

The shortcut icon appears on my home screen but doesn't take me to the folder I wanted.

What am I missing or doing wrong?

Thanks!

Hello Shmanzoid,

We certainly understand what it's like when you're trying to work out an error in Shortcuts. It sounds like you are able to add the shortcut that you created to the Home Screen without issue, but the folder is not opening the file you created.

The Shortcuts User Guide may have some tips that will help you ensure that you're creating the shortcut correctly.

If the folder doesn't open, you may need to give direction for where the Documents folder is located in Files. For example, is it located in iCloud Drive, "On my iPhone," or a third-party syncing service?

Regards.
