im not sure if the phone got wet or just overheated, but the screen kept turning off while I was using it and then eventually started flashing and had green lines all over the screen, the. buttons all work still, I can feel the screen still working but ts just blank

Water damage is not covered under the AppleCare warranty.
Make an appointment at the Apple Store or take the phone to an authorized Apple Service shop to have them check things out and go over your options with you.
