I have the same contact list name hundreds of times in my iCloud contacts, iPhone and iPad. How can i delete or merge the group lists without having to delete them one at a time. They do not appear multiple times in my Mac contacts.

There is an option in iOS and iPadOS 16 to resolve duplicate contacts. You could try that on one of the devices and see if the changes sync with iCloud.
