Auto reply Text not working!!

Why can’t Apple fix this issue? It is 2023 and with all their technology they can’t fix this issue? It used to work great?? Would like to know when this feature will be resolved-use it all the time for business. May have to get rid of the IPhone due to this issue. Any update from Apple???

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem:

  1. Enable Do Not Disturb While Driving:
    • On iOS devices, the auto-reply feature may be linked to the "Do Not Disturb While Driving" setting. Make sure this feature is enabled. You can find it in Settings > Do Not Disturb > Do Not Disturb While Driving.
  1. Check if Auto-Reply is Set Up:
    • Ensure that you have set up the auto-reply feature correctly. Go to Settings > Messages > Automatic Reply and check if you have enabled and configured the auto-reply message.
  1. Update Your iOS:
    • Ensure that your device is running the latest iOS version. Software updates often include bug fixes, so updating your iOS might resolve the issue.
  1. Restart Your Device:
    • Sometimes, a simple restart can fix minor software glitches. Try restarting your device and see if the auto-reply feature starts working again.
  1. Reset Network Settings:
    • If the issue persists, you can try resetting network settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Please note that this action will reset Wi-Fi, cellular, and VPN settings, so you'll need to re-enter your Wi-Fi passwords afterward.
  1. Contact Apple Support:
    • If none of the above steps work, it's possible that there is a more significant software issue. In this case, it's best to reach out to Apple Support for further assistance and troubleshooting.

Remember to back up your device before attempting any significant changes or resets to ensure you don't lose any important data.

Please note that the availability and functionality of certain features may vary depending on your iOS version and device model. If you are using an older device, some features may not be supported.

I read the posts, I did the seemingly impossible, then I saw the auto-reply actually work 10 mins ago! It was such a relief. Wow, works so well on email auto-response out of office, but texting was near Impossible to make happen! I did what everyone said to do on dozens of forums -- allow in the messages settings, allow focus to be accessed - check. I allowed the driving focus to auto reply to all contacts. Done. I set my personal message - done. I created a lock screen just in case I had to - done. I then followed a suggestion to turn Off the messages having access to focus, then deleting the driving focus, Then turning off the phone then back on again - done. Then...add the messages to allow and access focus. Check! Then, I added my driving focus back in and repeated - auto reply to all contacts, set my lock screen, set my message that auto-saved from the previous session. I tested it - it actually worked!! Then, I tried it from another phone. It DID NOT WORK!!! UNTIL.....I added the contact in the SEND-FROM phone, then it worked. WOW, The sender has to have the recipient in THEIR contacts too, not only the recipient needing to have the Sender saved as a contact. That's really too bad, since if the sender only has text history such as when they just receive a text from the recipient or Just receive the phone number and name of the recipient but they do not save their contact info for WHATEVER REASON, if the sender AND the recipient do not both have each other saved as contacts, it will not work! I do not know what the harm would be if the recipient has the sender contact info saved and the sender texts, why would they NOT receive an auto-response!? Well, it appears that they will not, unless BOTH the sender and the recipient are contacts saved in one another's phones. Mystery solved! So, there is NO WAY to guarantee that all senders will receive auto-responses, since the recipient can never be sure that the sender has the recipients' contact info saved!! Well, finally cracked the code, but wow, what a time suck. Hopefully this helps! I do not usually post anything anywhere, but I felt that this could help a LOT of people since I spent SO MUCH TIME on this!! Oh, and I just realized that iMessage has to be turned off too apparently.

So I have been chatting and calling with Apple.

Since the new IOS with multiple focus modus, they have changed the behavior of the auto reply. An auto reply is not whilst being called and in drive modus, but only whilst receiving a message ( SMS or iMessage).
