one side of airpod pros disconnects

Over the last few weeks, my AirPod Pros have been disconnecting one one side. It's usually the same side (left), but sometimes the other (right).

It's easy enough to reconnect, but that's annoying and inconvenient.

My question: How can I prevent this altogether? How can I keep both sides connected all the time?
