Can’t add card to Apple Pay

Can’t add any credit card or debit card to my wallet. Keep getting error “Card not added “Contact your card issuer for more information.” I have tried turn off and back on. Change region and back. This is on my iPhone. Software updated. I even tried to backup and reset device and restore backup. Nothing is wrong with my card. I think it has to do with this iPhone or something that block it when you did many attempts. I was able to added cards before but I was trying to do something and did many attempts and it blocked me from adding. I used my wife phone and sign in with my Apple ID and able to add any cards on my wife phone under my Apple ID. So I am thinking it has something to do with this phone itself that need to be reset but as I stated I did a complete reset but restored from backup so I guess the issue is still be there because I still can’t add cards. Not sure where to go or what to do. Unless I get a new phone which I don’t want to.

Is your card still on your wife’s iPhone? Does you wife share you Apple ID or does she have here own Apple ID? I read what you posted earlier, but it would be best practice to double check and confirm it’s not on here iPhone and she’s not logged into your ID.

The block is per device, not per card. If your card is compromised, the fraudulent user will try to add it to your device, using your Apple ID and adding their device to your Apple ID. So when too many attempts were associated with device/iPhone, your iPhones unique identifier was blocked by your bank. How often have you tried to add the card to your iPhone?

To the best of my knowledge Apple doesn’t block cards. Have you contacted your bank’s fraud department, via phone, and inquired about your issue?

You’ve stated you have a new card? Did you confirm the cards account number was changed? The magnetic strip on the back has a fixed number, which is the same as the number imprinted on the card. If that number didn't change, it’s the same card.

Another issue could be with your iPhone. Do you have Apple Care on your device? You’re welcome to contact Apple Support. Some credit cards offer phone insurance if you pay your cellular bill with their credit card. Apple Support can remote into your iPhone to do some diagnostics, but I’m not sure it can be something as extensive as diagnosing your specific issue.

That’s great news. Thank you for the update. I hope you have a great weekend!

It could have been the update. If a prior update had an error during update, that could have been the issue, and the update fixed the error. It’s also possible the delay was the fix. There is anecdotal evidence that some holds may last 7 days. Certainly a new Wallet app can fix the issue.
