Would love to connect my new Mac Ventura w/an older (30+ yrs) scanner. The scanner has one cord with circular end and lots of silver dots in it . . . are these two devices compatible? If so, where does the circular end go? Thanks for your help!

is your computer 30+ years old as well, then you have a shot.
Otherwise I would consider upgrading.

That round connection is for the cable that provides power to the “Transparency Unit” For connecting to the Mac you would use the USB or FireWire connection and an appropriate adapter.
