Widgets on main screen moving to external

Hello, I have a MacBook Air 15" 2023. I have an external monitor set up as the secondary, the one on the MacBook as primary. I have a few widgets on the primary display. When I maximize an app on the secondary display, it moves the widgets from the primary to the secondary. I have torn through setting trying to find out what is causing this to happen and I have had no luck. Any idea why this might be happening?

I have discovered a solution. Go to System Settings > Desktop and Dock > scroll down to Mission Control > Turn off "Automatically rearrange spaces based on most recent use"; and make sure "Displays have separate spaces" is turned ON. For good measure, I deleted all the widgets and restarted my laptop before I added the widgets to the display I wanted.

I was having this issue when I would add my iPad as a third monitor. All widgets from secondary monitor would automatically shift over when it connected. This seems to have fixed the issue for now.

If it matters: I'm running a Macbook Air M1 w/Sonoma 14.4 as primary display, Spectre F22 as secondary via HDMI/USBC adapter, and iPad via lightning cable.

For two external displays the 2nd display with widgets will move to 3rd display if the 3rd display mirror is attached to the main display in arrange

I'm having this happen on my Mac Pro 7,1. I have 3 monitors. It keeps moving from my 3rd monitor to my second. Very annoying.
