Mic works on video but not calls

Why does iPhone mic work recording a video but I can’t be heard on calls?

Since your iPhone 8 has multiple microphones, it's likely that the one your device uses for recording a video is different than the one used while placing a call. If the microphone used to place calls isn't working, then your callers will not be able to hear you. One potential workaround for this would be to try using speaker phone while on a call, to see if that may utilize a different microphone and let you make calls for the time being. To resolve the issue permanently, we would recommend bringing your iPhone into your nearest service location to have them inspect it in person. This would enable them to diagnose any physical hardware issues with your microphone and go over options you have to get it working again.
