How to prevent hearing aids from automatically syncing to Mac using bluetooth.

My hearing aids connect to my Mac and my iPhone using bluetooth. Unfortunately, they sync to the Mac automatically. When this happens, they will not sync with my iPhone unless I manually disconnect from the Mac. How do I turn off the automatic syncing on the Mac? I currently tell the Mac to forget the hearing aids after watching videos so that I can take phone calls.

Thank you for the quick reply. The hearing aid app does not control pairing behavior. The app allows manual control of the features of 10 different programs/modes, but does not give any control over the pairing.

I tried manually disconnecting on the Mac. That works, but it reconnects when I leave the room and come back in.
