HDR problem on mac m1

Hello. On YouTube, when I hover over an HDR video and start the preview, there are artifacts around the preview and the screen flickers. Also, when starting the HDR video, the mac itself slows down. But this only happens with youtube, and this problem is in all browsers.

Video quality drops when moving mouse! Hello, everyone. I have an issue with my MacAir. When moving my mouse, for example in Safari on YouTube the video drops to 360p or so even if 1080p is enabled. It happens only if I move my mouse, when I stop, after 2-3 seconds the quality is good again. I tried YouTube in another browser and it works excellent there BUT I am also using Telegram and encountering the same issue with GIFs there! I just don't understand why. Is there a problem with Video Codecs or Graphic Chip itself?

.mp4 video playback issues on Quicktime and Safari on MacBook Pro M1 Playing mp4 videos in QuickTime causes my MacBook Pro (14" 2021, M1, Sonoma 14.4..1) to freeze up; audio continues but mouse pointer disappears, the computer becomes unresponsive while audio continues to play, and after failed attempts to force quit the QuickTime program, a hard restart is required. Video quality does not matter, having tried both 1080 and regular HD versions of the video. Unfortunately, playing the same videos on Safari through Vimeo gives the same results, audio continues while the mouse pointer disappears and the machine becomes unresponsive, again requiring a hard restart. What is needed to resolve this issue?

HDR playback laggy or impossible in QuickTime I've been experiencing some issues with HDR material played through QuickTime. Whether it's a preview or photos, the playback is extremely slow. My MacBook tends to freeze and experience lag when I try to play the material. Even after closing the movie that was playing, it takes some time for the system to recover its normal speed. Both the mouse and keyboard become laggy during this time. Interestingly, my Mac operates perfectly fine under normal conditions. I've tried playing both MOV and MP4 files, whether they're from my iPhone or directly from my Sony a7IV camera. Strangely, I haven't encountered any problems when using VLC Player. Its very annoying when trying to preview movie clips. Does anyone have any suggestions or hints to help resolve this issue? Thanks in advance!

This sounds like a problem with the graphics chip on your machine.

You might be able to detect the problem with:

Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac - Apple Support

If nothing shows up there, Etrecheck - the handy reporting tool for … - Apple Community

can often isolate background app issues that might not help the performance of Youtube.
