Hello jftremblay77,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We want to make sure to fully understand the issue you're experiencing. You mentioned three dots, can you provide the community additional details in reference to the three dots not appearing for the user account?

In addition, the beta version of macOS Sonoma is still being tested and is not a finalized version of the software, we recommend providing your feedback through the Feedback Assistant application. Here's more information for your records: Apple Beta — FAQ

If you wish to revert back to the latest public release of macOS , you can do so by following the steps outlined in this article: Apple Beta — Unenroll Your Devices

A step we do recommend if you revert back to the public version of macOS, is to restart the Mac in safe mode. This is a step that can help verify your startup disk, clear some caches and more. Here are the steps on how to perform this method:

Start up your Mac with Apple silicon in safe mode
1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Shut Down.
2. Wait for your Mac to shut down completely. A Mac is completely shut down when the screen is black and any lights (including in the Touch Bar) are off.
3. Press and hold the power button on your Mac until “Loading startup options” appears.
4. Select a volume.
5. Press and hold the Shift key, then click Continue in Safe Mode.
6. The computer restarts automatically. When the login window appears, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.

Start up your Intel-based Mac in safe mode
1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key until you see the login window.
2. Log in to your Mac.
3. You might be asked to log in again.
4. On either the first or second login window, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.

This information is outlined here: Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

Kind regards.

Hello jftremblay77,

Since that behavior doesn't persist in safe mode, you'll want to take the additional steps below:

If the issue doesn't continue in safe mode

Leave safe mode by restarting your Mac normally, then try to reproduce the issue. If the issue doesn't return, it might have been resolved by the other things that safe mode did at startup, such as checking your disk and clearing caches.

If the issue returns, it is caused by a login item or other software that safe mode prevents from loading at startup. In that case, remove login items to find out whether a login item is at fault.

If a login item is not at fault, your user account might contain other software that is incompatible, including certain software that loads at startup. To confirm, you can add a user account in Users & Groups settings, then log in to that account and test again. The new account won't have the same settings as your old account, but you can create those settings again.

If nothing else works, reinstall macOS. Reinstalling macOS doesn't remove your personal files, so you can do it whenever you need to.

You can also find those steps in this resource: Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

While reinstalling macOS doesn't remove your personal files, it is always recommended to make a backup beforehand, just in case: Back up your Mac with Time Machine - Apple Support

Should that still persist, you'll want to reach out to Apple Support: Get Support They'll be in the best position to look into this further.

Take care.

Hi jftremblay77,

As mentioned in the article previously shared: "If the issue continues in safe mode

If the issue continues in safe mode, the easiest and most likely solution is to reinstall macOS. Reinstalling macOS doesn't remove your personal files, so you can do it whenever you need to."

As the issue is temporarily resolved when changing accounts you can still follow the steps for removing login items to test: Remove login items to resolve startup problems on your Mac

If the issue remains after reinstalling, reach out to Apple to further assist. If needed again you can get connected using the link here: Get Support

Cheers.

1- Trouble was present before installing Sonoma. I was hopping Sonoma will correct the problem.

2- When I am in Safari or Finder in full screen mode, I move my mouse in the top of the screen and in the normal behavior the three dots are suppose to pop-up. You can view what I call normal behavior here https://youtu.be/ucZHgUYuip8 and here https://youtu.be/6cMN6L_Nwyw

3- At this time, when I move my mouse over the top off the screen, the three dot are not poping up. You can view it here https://youtu.be/TuR2We_u-Pc

4- I have to user account on my Mac. In account number 1, the problem is here. In account number 2, everything work well

5- Safe mode solve the problem but when I boot back in regular mode, problem is still existing

5- Safe mode did not solve the issue but if I boot in safe mode in account number 1, keep it open and log to account number 2 and open safari. Then after I log off from account number 2 and go back to account number 1, everything work well in safari but not in finder !

6- I just try the same step in regular boot mode and the issue is solved too in safari and not in finder !

7- I try again the same step but this time I open Finder in account number 2 and when I am back to account number 1, issue is solved for Finder too (regular boot mode)

In summary, if I boot in regular mode I have issue with the three dots. But if I log to a second user account, open safari and finder, log off from the second user account and back to the first one, everything work well

Hope it give you some clues
