I find the default font too small for comfortable reading and the app doesn't allow easy expansion on iPad or iPhone. You can increase the font by going to the top right of the article, BUT it doesn't retain the setting. I have to adjust the size with each article. I hope this can be corrected.

Apple News and other Apple apps/services use the Text Size you set within Settings as the default.
Set the Text Size you want to be the default across all Apple apps.
