TheB2010, you'll technically cause less damage to your battery if you use your computer while it's plugged in more often than unplugged. Doing so will reduce the number of charge cycles over time on your macbook's battery, which will retain more of your battery's capacity for longer than someone who is draining the battery and recharging all the time.

You can check your battery's overall capacity by going to Settings -> Battery -> Battery Health. Clicking the (i) will show you "Maximum Capacity," which is how much charge your battery can hold compared to how much it could hold on its first day of use. This number will slowly drop from 100% over time, but anything over 80% is generally healthy. If you have apple care+, if it ever drops below 80% you can call Apple to discuss replacement options.

You can leave your computer plugged in when necessary or when convenient to do so. Leaving the computer plugged in will not damage the computer or the battery. The MacOS manages the power/charging system very well. There is no need for you to micro manage the system.
