HomePod Mini / HomeKit / Adding Eve Cam

Hi folks - really hoping someone from the community can help, I’ve been on the phone to Apple support for weeks without a resolution.

So had my eve outdoor camera since February 2023, got it all hooked up and working with a HomePod mini. Since the 16.5 HomeKit update at the end of march, it’s been out of action - initially I was getting a no response error so I decided to reset everything

The HomePod, the router (tp link deco mesh) my iPhone network settings, the camera itself and now it just absolutely refuses to connect

I’ve adjusted my router settings so I’m only on the 2.4ghz band and when I reset the camera to add it to HomeKit it comes up and I put the setup code in, I get ‘setup code Incorrect’

Now I’ve noticed through multiple attempts that my iPhones wifi seems to switch to 5g when I’m trying to connect, even though whilst I’m using HomeKit to search for the camera they are all on the same network. I have the right netmask as well from what I can see

I’ve been trying to work out what WiFi or iPhone or HomePod setting is throwing it out of whack, esp as it was working fine for a while before

Please help!!

Hi there JazN456,

If your camera isn't responding or working in the Home app, make sure you've tried all the steps below, paying close attention to the last step of checking for VPN and security software and network issues:

If accessories from several manufacturers aren't responding
Check if your smart home accessories are responding in the Home app after each step.
1. Update your iPhone, iPad, or Mac to the latest software.
2. Close the Home app on your iPhoneiPad, or Mac and reopen it.
3. Make sure your iPhone, iPad, or Mac is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your accessories. To control your accessories remotely, you must set up a home hub.
4. Turn on Bluetooth in the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad, or in System Settings on your Mac.
5. Restart any accessories that aren't responding. You may have to take the batteries out of your accessory and put them back in.
6. Check the manufacturer's app to see if accessories that aren't responding in the Home app need a firmware update. If the accessories aren't responding in the manufacturer's app, you may need to reset them.
7. If your accessories still aren't responding in the Home app, restart your devices:
8. Unplug your modem and router, then plug them back into power.
9. Unplug any third-party bridges and all home hubs (HomePod, HomePod mini, and Apple TV), then plug them back into power.
10. Restart accessories that aren't responding. You may have to take the batteries out of your accessory and put them back in.
11. Restart your iPhoneiPad, or Mac.
12. Check VPN and third-party security software to resolve potential network connectivity issues.

You'll find all this information here: If your HomeKit or Matter accessory isn't responding in the Home app - Apple Support

If the issue persists, we'd suggest reaching out to the manufacturer directly for further guidance or continue working with Apple Support on the issue.

Take care.

Thanks Sparks0892 - I’ve actually done a hard iPhone reset & troubleshoot run through with apple support and it still has the same problem. (Including removing all vpn configs etc)

Eve outdoor cam support just said it needed to be on the same c class network / subnet mask, which it is.

i think it must be a bug because I can see my WiFi on my phone disconnecting when I try and add the camera.. I even upgraded my WiFi network to tp link deco mesh system to make sure I was on 2.4ghz and with strong signal

I also brought an Apple TV to rule out it being a HomePod mini problem and it wouldn’t connect with that as my home hub either

at this point I’m thinking it’s either a bug with the 16.5 update or my camera isn’t has a hardware fault

only other thing that it might be is before I did the 16.5 upgrade I was getting ‘no response error’ from my camera and I thought it was because I needed to update… could it be that my camera has just broken on the inside?
