Why does My Apple Watch say "Requires iPhone" to download some apps?

My iWatch was set up using Family Sharing. So the Apple ID I use for my watch is different from the Apple ID used on the iPhone.

I am able to download some apps directly to my Apple Watch from the App Store but other apps I am interested in won't download and it says: "Requires iPhone"

Not sure what to do next to download the apps I want when this happens.

Any suggestions?

Hi AppleUser12L34,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. We understand you have an Apple Watch set up by a family member and some apps you try to download say "Requires iPhone". It sounds like the person may have set up Ask to Buy. This article explains how your watch was set up and may provide some helpful info: Set up Apple Watch for a family member - Apple Support.

We hope this helps.

Take care.
