I have an Apple ID that i use on my iMac and I have another Apple ID on my companies iPhone.
I'm leaving the company so have bought an iPhone for personal use.
Is it better to use a different Apple ID on each device and use Family Sharing or should I be looking to use the Apple ID from my iMac on my new iPhone as well?

I may be in the minority here, but use the same Apple ID. The Apple ID is intended to be used per person, not per device. If the Mac and iPhone is used primarily by you, sharing data is automatic without setting up a Family Sharing plan.
