Granting permission to an installer

Hi,

I was about to install a software thorugh an installer file and it asked for permission to access my downloads folder. I was hesitant to grant it the permission so I clicked on No, hoping it would still be installed. But it did not install on my mac.

I tried to install it again, this time ready to give permission to it, but it no longer asked for permission which means it did not install as well.

I tried downloading the installer again, rebooting my mac, clearing my history and cach, but none of them worked!

Any solutions to make the installer ask for permission again?

Thank you!

Perhaps you should just feel relieved that you didn't install something that might just package up all of your surfing habits into one neat little package they can sell at a premium. All such software relies on fear, uncertainty, and doubt to convince you to buy something you don't need. There aren't hords of people tracking your every move on the Internet. iCloud+'s Private Relay will anonymize your adventures.

Check to see if the Installer app is in the Files and Folders section of Privacy & Security. If it is, enabled it for Downloads. I don't show the Installer app in my list, so I'm not sure you will find it.

You could try resetting all of the Transparency, Consent, and Control policies you have set. In Terminal, copy/paste this command and hit return:

tccutil reset All
