Why am I having so much trouble with Facebook? It takes so long to come up andthe circle spins forever. A lot of times there is nothing but blank spaces. Could it be my phone?

That is always a possibility but less so on a newer phone like yours running the latest iOS version. I do not see an ocean of posts here describing that problem. Try restarting the phone.
If Facebook says they are not having a bad hair day, then your carrier (cellular data) or your wirelss connection may be running slowly.

The Facebook app for Android is a different app than the Facebook app for iOS. So, the fact that it's working differently is hardly surprising.

The Facebook app is notoriously awful. It uses far more battery life and data than it ought. The privacy issues are outside of the scope of this post but know they are significant. Start by deleting the app and reinstalling it to see if that helps. Or, access Facebook through your browser.
