2020 MacBook Pro 13 no longer charging

My 2020 MacBook Pro 13-inch will no longer charge with it’s original charging cord. It has since lost total power and I can not turn it on. This happened on 6/28/2023 and coincidently my three year apple care + expired on 7/1/2023. I was unable to get a geek appointment at my local apple store until 7/5/2023, after the Holiday. I renewed my apple care + policy on 7/4/2023. I’m hoping it still offers me some repair or replacement protection. Has anyone else experienced this recharging failure? I am hoping it is battery related but I had no warning signs of a weakening battery before this happened. I’m worried it might be a bigger issue than the battery. Has there been any recall or recurring issues with the 2020 MacBook Pro 13?
