By storage, do you mean your iCloud storage or device storage? They're not the same thing. to check your icloud storage, go to settings > [Your Name] > iCloud. If you a lot of free iCloud storage, check if iCloud backup is turned on. If not, turn it on. If yes, try turning it off and on.
