iMac will not turn on

Hello,

I have a Retina 5k 27 inch 2017 imac

Processor 3.5 GHz Quad-Core Intel

Core i5

Graphics Radeon Pro 575 4 GB

Memory 64 GB 2400 MHz DDR4

We had a power cut and it will now not turn on. I have tried all the options I can find online.

This has happened before and turned on after about 3 hours of trying everything.

Please help.

Yesterday, I attempted the suggested solution without success. However, today I decided to disconnect the power cable from both the iMac and the power socket and left it unplugged for the entire day. Then, I plugged the power socket back into the wall, held down the power button for 15 seconds, connected the power cable to the iMac, and to my astonishment, it turned on when I pressed the power button! It seems like some sort of magical fix. Any idea why this has taken so long to reset?

Sometimes an older iMac or desktop model may need the 'clock battery'

replaced, in order to restart correctly and run. Some of those computers

have a smaller panel to gain access to the battery; so check for that..

Other times the battery could be located on a 'logic board' deep within.

[Such as the original Mac Mini G4 and similar intel-based Mac; the entire

bottom comes off, after some fuss. Later ones still require some effort.]

However that might only be 'a first step' in path to troubleshoot a device.

Perhaps a failed power supply may be the cause of this issue. Genius

or authorized Apple service provider could check & test for the cause.
