Trust computer with iPhone or iPad - OVER and OVER
Why do I have to keep trusting my computer EVERY time I connect my iPad and iPhone. I am not busing any VPN and my computer is a Mac Mini.
Mac mini, macOS 10.13

I still don't understand it. If I mark my MacBook as trusted and it is hacked without knowing it (as usual), then a hacker would still be able to access an iPhone backup, right? It seems more like shifting responsibilities (from Apple to the user) than a solution. Or does it prevent hacking/accessing?

This was a change made with iOS 16.1, and it is a workaround for a vulnerability that would allow someone who had hacked your computer to make a backup of your iPhone that they could download and essentially have access to your private information. Thus, every time you connect your iPhone to your computer you must confirm the trust relationship again. Here is a summary of the vulnerability:
Available for: iPhone 8 and later, iPad Pro (all models), iPad Air 3rd generation and later, iPad 5th generation and later, iPad mini 5th generation and later
Impact: An app may be able to access iOS backups
Description: A permissions issue was addressed with additional restrictions.
CVE-2022-32929: Csaba Fitzl (@theevilbit) of Offensive Security

This carries with it a different level of threat depending on each individual and should still be able to be turned off. A lot of us just want to charge the phone while at the computer or grab a photo off thoughout the day, not leaving it sit forever. This just seems like a loss for Apple products and another opportunity for the silly Android community to gloat again. Let us be smooooov

Thanks for that. I thought it was something wrong in my system, but as a security issue - fair enough.
Cheers from Oz (Austalia)
