That is for capturing Text from an image/photo.
The gray box with three lines inside a circle in the Photos app when a photo with text is opened is called Live Text. It is a feature introduced in iOS 15 that allows you to select and interact with text in photos. You can copy and paste text, translate it, or look up information about it.
The Live Text icon will only appear in photos that contain text that the Photos app can recognize. If you don't see the icon, it means that the photo doesn't contain any text that the Photos app can recognize.
To use Live Text, open a photo that contains text and tap on the gray box with three lines inside a circle. You can then select the text you want to interact with. Once you've selected the text, you can do one of the following:
- Copy the text: Tap on the Copy button.
- Paste the text: Tap on the Paste button.
- Translate the text: Tap on the Translate button.
- Look up information about the text: Tap on the Look Up button.
Live Text is a powerful feature that can be used to interact with text in photos in a variety of ways. It's a great way to quickly copy and paste text, translate text, or look up information about text in photos.
