Could not update to Ventura 13.4.1 on MacBook Air with M2

When I tried to update, I got an error message that said, "Current device configuration and target is invalid for install in the current state. Please try again."

Update: the solution that ultimately worked for me was inspired by this page: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/package-installation-fails.2234247/


I found that `/private/tmp` did not exist, so I created it, and then my system upgrade worked.


To check if it exists, open the Terminal app, then type `ls /private/tmp` and hit enter. If you get a message saying that it doesn't exist, type `sudo mkdir /private/tmp` and hit enter. You'll have to put in your password. Then try your install again.
