This is what I did. I edited and cropped the photo and sent it to my Notes. Next I saved the photo from notes to my photos. The file size finally was 250 kb.

Good luck

Reducing the file size of JPEG images typically involves some loss of quality, as compression techniques are used to remove unnecessary data and reduce the overall size of the image file. However, you can minimize the loss of quality by following these steps on your iPhone 14 Pro Max:

  1. By default, iPhones capture images in the HEIC (High-Efficiency Image Format) format, which offers better compression and quality compared to JPEG. To enable this format, go to "Settings" > "Camera" > "Formats" and select "High Efficiency" instead of "Most Compatible." This way, your photos will be stored in HEIC format, reducing file size without noticeable quality loss.
  2. You can also make some adjustments to the camera settings to reduce the file size of JPEG images. Go to Settings > Camera. · Tap Formats. · Tap Most Compatible. This setting is available only on devices that can capture media in HEIF or HEVC ... Using HEIF or HEVC media on Apple devices
  3. Image editing tools, such as the built-in Photos app on your iPhone, allow you to crop, resize, and adjust image quality. By removing unnecessary parts of an image and reducing its dimensions, you can decrease the file size. However, be cautious not to overdo the compression or cropping, as it may result in noticeable quality degradation.

Remember that even with these methods, there may be some loss of quality due to the nature of JPEG compression. It's essential to strike a balance between reducing file size and maintaining an acceptable level of image quality.
