This payment method can't be used with the iTunes store

I solved the problem at the support that my apple id was blocked in the appstore and itunes (this warning popped up when I wanted to update the applications).

I decided to contact chat support, where the advisor advised me to restart the phone and that it would work.

It's quite an unconventional procedure for me, but OK, I took it as okay.

When I restarted the iPhone, the account was unblocked, but my payment card was taken away. When I tried to add it, it always said:

"This payment method cant be used with the itunes store. Try again using another payment method"


So I contacted my bank, where I have a personal banker assigned to me, who told me that the card is fine with them, without problems, without any non-standard activities, and the problem must be only with you.

By the way, I added the card to Apple Wallet - where it was added without any problems (but to buy an iCloud subscription, it must be added not to the wallet, but to the payment methods - that means settings, apple ID, payment and delivery)

By the way, I tried adding it to a competing samsung phone, and it worked. So I knew 100% that I ruled out all possibilities that it was my fault.


So I contacted chat support again. At the support, Mr. Oscar (despite the fact that I explained to him that I am technically proficient) recommended everything I tried, and finally told me to use another payment method. I explained to him that I have one debit card for private things, and if it's not my fault, what's the point of advising me to get a new card when the card works and it's not my fault. I saved this conversation as a PDF. So he told me when he understood how stupid it was, he said that he would set up a phone call with support, where they have more powers to solve problems.


The call was made today at 15:00 (CEST) where I told the operator this whole problem. I told him the serial number, the apple ios version (16.5.1), I note that you don't even have such an option to select in the feedback, and I'm not using either the public beta or the developer beta. I also approved remote verification etc. for him.

He directed me to try adding it via the WEB, which I tried - it didn't work.

He solved it for 45 minutes, giving me the same advice where he didn't give me advice again, despite the fact that he himself told me that he could see that the card was working correctly, but the system didn't want to add it. I said that the card worked normally, on 25/05/2023 I still bought the iCloud store with it (because I need it for work), and now of course I can't buy it. It happened since I got an alert that my apple id was blocked (which is already working).

They couldn't tell me the reason for the blocking, they also couldn't tell me the reason why I can't add the card, that they don't see into it. I'm saying that I should probably have the right to know when you block the addition of my card in the system (I didn't make any refunds, just nothing) that where the problem is. Again I received the recommendation "Change your payment card, and it will work". The operator even confirmed that the card works normally, but the system probably evaluated it based on something, why it doesn't want to add it.

I repeat, the card works in APPLE WALLET - but not here.


I spent more than 3 hours of pure time with the solution, where in the end I was told twice to change the card - despite the fact that the fault is not on my side, nor the bank's? Is this some kind of joke?

This lady advised me to contact apple feedback where they can tell me more.


This really disappointed me completely, that Apple support approaches and "advises" customers without even telling them where the error is, and shifts it from chat, to call, to feedback, without any comment. I could change the card even without this, and don't worry if the error is on my side. You can't even buy iCloud with credit, because it won't take the card again.

So hopefully I'll finish here at least with the information and possible correction.

You have posted in a voluntary, user-to-user, technical support community. Apple is unlikely to respond, and if they do, it will be referring you to its online support articles or telling you to contact main Apple Support (which it appears you have done). I suggest you keep on working with the telephone support team. Good luck!
