I’m poor, and I want an Apple Watch. I had a Samsung one, but since I got an iPhone, I can’t use it and sold it. I found one at a reasonable price, but I’m thinking about [insert title here] before buying it.

By being careful, LD150 means many people have been scammed into buying stolen Apple Watches which are locked, and cannot be unlocked.
The link LD150 provided is what a responsible reseller would have made sure was done before the sale. Someone that stole the Apple Watch would of course lie that it was done.
I would also mention that get at least an Apple Watch Series 4 or newer. Anything older than a Series 4 will not upgrade to watchOS 10 this fall. Newer than Series 4 will give additional years of service.
