Cap Lock Key for uppercase numeric value.

I cant believe that this question has not been raised again since 2014; How to change the built in keyboard settings so that when we press the Cap Lock key the uppercase numeric values also get activated instead of always having to continually pressing the shift key. When I am not sitting at my desk where I can use my magic keyboard with its separate numeric pad it is so frustrating trying to input numbers. Sometimes I am trying to type with one hand while holding the laptop with the other hand. To me this seems such a logical function and setting that should have been addressed by now.

The 2014 solution is the only response I have found thus far to my question, but it did not work and according to Perplexity Chat GPT you cannot adjust it.

It has been addressed for a long time now. Enable "Sticky Keys":Change Keyboard Hardware preferences for accessibility on Mac - Apple Support.

Do that. Pressing the Shift key twice will cause the keyboard to act like a typewriter's "Shift Lock". It is not exactly what you would like to implement, but it comes close, and won't conflict with "normal" keyboard use.

The problem you want to overcome is that Caps Lock ≠ Shift Lock.

On my machine, activating the French Numerical Input Source lets you type numbers under Caps Lock. Is that not what you are looking for? Or does it really not work for you?

A big problem is that this is a relic from old typewriter keyboards. The behavior was inconsistent even among electronic typewriters.

It is one of those no-win scenarios. People think of Caps-Lock as just uppercasing letters, not numbers. Where shift will get the upper row on any numeric key. Trying to please everyone you end up pleasing no one.
