I agree with Bob and Serg. I would not use a case. In addition to the points Serg makes about putting stress on the computer, a case may also impede proper heat dissipation.
I have a neoprene sleeve I use to carry my computer if the bag I'm using doesn't have a padded computer section.

I personally would not use a case. These are typically clip-on and may cause stress to the casing, possibly causing damage, especially to the display panel.
Today's MacBooks are very thin and stress to certain parts of the MacBook may cause more damage than if one didn't use a case.
Especially do NOT use a screen protector. The clearances between the display panel and the keyboard are very small to begin with, even without a screen protector. Adding one is not a good idea.
If you want to use a "case", use a protective, padded sleeve like BobTheFisherman suggsts above. Something that doesn't clip onto or attach physically to the MacBook.
Again, this is just my personal opinion. Your mileage and preferences may vary.

Depends what you mean by "case". I use a computer backpack every time I change the location of my Mac. I've taken my Mac all over the world using the backpack and have never had any issues. Make sure the computer is powered off before placing it in the backpack. Some prefer to use a sleeve rather than a backpack. These work well too.
