Unable to Subsribe to Podcast

Working with a Windows 10 PC, I'm no longer able to subscribe to podcasts in the iTunes Store. While the reply is "Temporarily unable to complete request", it's been at least several days. Is there a known issue? Thanks,

Download an episode from the store to your library, and then subscribe from the link on the entry in your library. It's a workaround--shame on you, Apple! But it works.

You may need to Add a payment method to your Apple ID – Apple Support (UK)

  • If you want to change your card, add first the new card, then remove the old one.
  • or if you use your Apple Account balance, you need to set your Apple Account balance as your default payment.

FYI: Not all credit & debit cards seem to work with App Store / iTunes Store, try a different one, or preferably a credit card. If your card is not accepted as a paymenf method, you need to contact your bank.

Add money to your Apple Account balance -> Add money to your Apple Account balance - Apple Support

If you have set your Apple Account balance as your default payment method, your default payment method will be used first by Apple when you need to make a payment.

Some purchases might require you to have a credit card on file, even if you use your Apple Account balance to make the purchase.

How to complete your purchase if a payment failed or was declined

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap your name.
  3. Tap Payment & Shipping.
  4. Add a different payment method and remove the old one
  5. Try to complete your purchase.

If you still can't make a purchase

If you update your payment method or add funds to your Apple Account balance, It would take about 1 to 3 business days in order to process.

If you're still unable to update your payment method, Contact Apple Support.

If you have followed all the steps and instructions and if you still need help, get support from Apple directly -> Get Support or call Apple in your region see -> Contact Apple for support and service or check -> here for more support and assistance.

Raicya,

Thank you for your quick response. As far as I know, there was no payment required, as the podcast carries no charge. I do have a working form of payment on file that I know funds several subscriptions and purchases from the iTunes Store. It doesn't seem to be a form of payment issue on my part, as I verified my account details seem to be in order. In any case, the Podcasts do not carry any fees or subscription costs to the subscriber, though maybe the vendor wants to have charges and iTunes does not yet offer that capacity. That issue wouldn't likely show up with just one potential subscriber, I suppose, but maybe others are reporting a similar issue. As I've verified my Apple details, and restarted my PC, are there any other steps I can take to be able to subscribe to Podcasts?

Many thanks.

Thank you, JosephMeyer, that worked for one our problem podcasts. I noticed, though, that one of our podcasts has two different numbering systems, ascending and decending, in opposite directions. So our original subscription podcasts number 1 from the earliest episode and proceed upwards. However, in the store, they are numbered from the newest back to the beginning, so the numbers are not the same for each episode. This wonderful podcast has been running since 2012, so there are lots of episodes that will be pretty tedious to acquire one at a time, if it will ever permit such a thing. I'm most appreciative of your suggestion, though, as it may help with our other podcasts that have simply changed URLs
