My 13 year-old just told me that he misplaced his new iphone a week and a half ago. I read that the last location is erased from icloud after 24 hours. Family location sharing was ON. It was out of power last he checked it. Is there any way to locate it or find out the last place it pinged? If lost in the house, is there a way to locate it with the power off?

The only way to locate it at this point is the old-fashioned way. You (or he) will need to look for it. Does he remember where he used it last? Do you have smaller children in the house who might have hidden it as a game? What about the sofa cushions? If you look in the car, get a flashlight and look way, way under the seats.
