Noise Reduction in Apple Health/Settings

I want to be able to turn off the alerts from headphone safety ... Why can't I turn it off? Why can't I adjust the thresholds? Why must I hear an incredibly loud ding when listening to things?

iPhone 11, iOS 16

Hey thank you,

For Step 3 when I get to headphone safety: there is a graph of headphone notifications, an option to reduce loud sounds, and a link to lightning adapters.

I don't see where I can raise and/or lower any thresholds (other than the option to have the phone reduce loud sounds... which I don't want)

That section you cited at the end, "Due to regulations and safety standards, headphone notifications can't be turned off in certain countries or regions." - Headphone notifications on your iPhone, iPod touch, or Apple Watch - Apple Support

Perhaps I'm in a country/region where I can't turn it off?

Do you know how I could find that out?

Hello Noisereduction_is_not_usfeul,

This feature can be disabled and enabled. You can also set a noise threshold before the alert is generated.

  1. Open Health
  2. Tap on your Profile Picture in the upper right
  3. Tap on Health Checklist (Under Features)
  4. Scroll down and tap on Noise Notifications
  5. Tap on Noise Threshold

You can change it to whatever you want or turn it off.

This feature can only be toggled on or off for Headphone Notifications. It is recommended to keep this on as listening to loud music for a prolong period of time can damage your ears and affect hearing (leading to hearing loss). If you're receiving this notification you should lower the volume.

Sorry when you said "Noise Reduction" I thought I'd include the Noise Notifications as well. This feature is limited to Apple Watch only and is used for notifying you when you've been in a noisy environment for too long.

Turn headphone notifications on or off

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPod touch.
  2. Tap Sounds & Haptics, then tap Headphone Safety.
  3. Turn Headphone Notifications on or off.

Within here you can raise and lower the notification level as well as automatically reducing loud sounds.

Open Control Center on your iOS or iPadOS device. While wearing your AirPods Max or both AirPods, touch and hold the volume slider until you see the additional controls. Tap the Noise Control icon in the lower-left corner. Tap Noise Cancellation, Transparency, or Off

Hi,
Not sure if your problem has been resolved or not, but because I also suffered the same issue with getting these annoying and unwarranted notifications, I kept trying to get help from Apple advisors but was stumped with no resolution. And until recently, I was able to resolve this.

So in addition to toggling off the permission under the Noise & Haptics for headphone notifications & Reduce Noise Levels:

Try This—->>>> It’s under Accessibility!!!

It still can't be turned off in all countries.

Hi,

Yes, I am told that too by some of the Apple advisers I’ve tried getting help from. The real question and perhaps something Apple can consider is, to publish which Country and region are mandatory and cannot be turned off. I only tried this because I too was once told “ It Might be because I’m in an area that cannot be turned off.” I live in the US. It still left me in the dark even from Apple and their advisors. And because I was told “ it might be” I stopped trying. But my stubborn side said, don’t give up!

Certainly I’ve tried that and encourage other Apple user to do their own product feedback. So Apple developers will know which apps are working and which needs working on!
