MacOS Ventura 13.4.1 upgrade problems

Hello everybody,

I am fairly new to MacOS and saw an update available yesterday in my Settings. After clicking download, the system told me the update would be done later at night, so I went to Bed.

When I turned my MacBook Pro (M1 chip) on this morning, I was asked to setup again, which I did.

Now I have two users in my /Users folder. One (/Users/ralf) is containing all my apps, source codes, etc., and a new one (/Users/Ralfhun) since this morning.

The new folder is basically empty and all my documents, downloads, sources, etc. are in the /Users/ralf folder.

My hope is that there is a way to "re-point" my home directory to the correct Users/ralf folder?

I would like to avoid having to reinstall MacOs and recover from a Time machine Backup, as I am scared that something goes wrong. I have apple card, but the service center is a two hours drive from where I live.

Thanks so much for any advice.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Even though, I can see two users is /User the "old" ralf does not show on the login screen - there is onoy one user to chose from.

I have tried to create a second user and point the Home diretory, but that did also not work.

so I guess I will completely reinstall Ventura and restore from Timemachine aversion that was till OK.

Pitty - another full day gone, I guess :-(

Thanks again.
