Garageband sees inputs but has not sound and wont ask for permission.

Banging my head against the wall here. 2014 mini with Monterey, no mics will work, not audio interfaces nothing. Garageband sees them, I can select them, but it does not see the actual input signal from them. The system it self sees them and shows the input, audacity works fine and everything from a rocksmith usb cable to my cheapest jank mic works fine. Just not in garage band. I went and installed 10.13 and installed a legacy version and it Garageband works great. Once upgraded back to Monterey though that same legacy version of garage band is back to not actually seeing the input signal. I haven't tried using OCLP to take it to Ventura to see if I still have the problem. If there is no fix I guess I'll just install Catalina. I literally only use this thing for Garageband.

Hey I've got the same issue man what did you do to fix it??? I've got an audiobox 96 from presonus and a macbook pro 14 bought new in 2023. I can only record a guitar with my audio interface in audacity. In garageband, I can record with a microphone and if i put a guitar, there is barely a signal detected and there is nothing on the 2nd input whatsoever.
