Understanding "Up Next": Apple Podcasts....

For the life of me I can't decipher "Up Next"....it certainly doesn't play in the order listed.

Adding a podcast to "Play next" doesn't change the viewed order but does cause a podcast to repeat play.

How can something as simple as a queue not be a queue????

iPhone 13 Pro Max, iOS 16

I’m not sure what “up next” does, but adding episodes to the queue is what makes them play next. When you’re on a podcast, hitting the 3 lines in the lower right brings up the queue which you can reorder or add to and delete from.

This appears to be a different list than “up next” on the listening now page, even though the queue actually plays what’s up next. I’m just guessing but “up next” may be what Apple thinks you want to hear.
