Redirection of newsletter item in mail to full article in browser

When trying to redirect from an item in a newsletter in gmail on a Mac with the latest OS Ventura to the full article in my browser I receive a message in my browser that there is no connection to internet and that my computer momentarily is offline. Neither statement is correct. This happens e.g. on any newsletter from El País. The address I get redirected to is t.newsletter.elpais.com completed with code which is article specific.

This problem does not occur on my iPad where I get properly redirected to the article on the El País site.

How Can this be solved?

The web and e-mail protection module of my antivirus program (ESET NOD 32) on my Mac was not working correctly at the time of the e-mail link problem described above. E.g. it made it impossible to update the antivirus program. When this was cured, the e-mail links in the newsletter from El País started to respond properly.
This answer may be corroborated by the fact that I only had a problem on my Mac and never on my iPad.

Friendly suggestion, 🤞 🇨🇦

There are no known Windows-like Viruses in the wild that self replicate and affect macOS, because of the underling UNIX  Foundation and Permission Limitation.

Starting in macOS 11 Big Sur and above.

The Operating System resides in a Sealed and Read Only Volume that can not be opened by the User nor by Third Party Applications.

The only Entity that can open and modify or alter this Volume is Apple.

That would occur when a update or UpGrade is performed.

The Only thing this Antivirus software is protecting is the Bank Account of the Developers and for zero return to the User aside from the problems this software creates.

AntiVirus Developers purposefully Market their product to create a “ Fear Factor “. In so doing, creating a False Need for their Product.

The The Built in Security  is all that is required to protect the computer.

Any Third Party Applications that will interfere with the normal operation of the OS,  is an invitation for disaster.

My user profile should read "iMac 24" M1, macOS 13.4"

When I use the link to the English newsletters of El País and in an example newsletter try to get redirected to the full article I get the same computer offline message. I have not yet received a safety warning as in the image presented above.

On my iPad I don't get redirected to a site which begins with t.newsletter.elpais.com but to the safe https://elpais.com/xxxx site which works properly.

Why this different behavior?

I am now in my IPhone 14 with IOS 16.5

From you first link in above reply I get this in image below.

in your second link I get the English Safe Site

The Why I do not know and sorry for that

Personally , I would be careful about links from and in e-Mails regardless from whom

check you security setting in Safari.

You do not want to leave the computer open to Bad Actor developers to fake you into downloading their Malware Adware

I can copy what you did with the same results and agree with your recommendations.

Unfortunately the mystery remains why on my iMac the link in the e-mail redirects me to an unsafe site and the same link in the same e-mail on my iPad Pro with IOS 16.5 redirects me to the correct and safe site.

In any case many thanks for your efforts.
