Cannot connect my homepod mini to my iphone. Keep getting error -7003

I tried to connect my homepod to a new home and keep getting an error message "Verification failed - this action could not be completed, please try again". When I quit the wizard, there is another error message that says "setup failed (-7003)" after it tries to connect to my apple id.

I already reset the homepod, and removed it from my old account.

If you are using Advanced Data Protection, then try shutting it off. Check the settings on an iPhone at: Settings > [your name on top] > iCloud > Advanced Data Protection. It has helped other users that received the same error message.
