Issues with AirPod pros not charging in case / connecting correctly

My AirPod pros aren't charging unless the case is connected to power. Case is flashing amber and the connect status keeps flashing on iPhone with power levels every few seconds. Have tried resetting several times using process outlined by Apple; but it doesn't work. Any ideas?! Thanks
