Will reseting old Mac after migration affect new in any way? I've just switched to a new MacBook Pro, and I have synchronised all my data from the old Mac with Migration Assistant. I don't have a Time Machine back up of either Mac. But now that all the data is transferred, can I factory reset my old MacBook without it affecting my new Mac. I need to Erase Mac I bought a new Mac and need to erase it to send to Apple for a trade in. When I was setting up my new one I think I "merged" the old and the new. If I erase the old one, will it erase the data off the new one, too? My husband used to do all this stuff but he passed away, maybe someone can help. Thanks in advance.

If by reset you mean erase the drive and reinstall the OS, then no.
