file sharing show the folder not the contents

Hi, Trying to set up file sharing. I can log into my desktop from my laptop and see the document folder which is what I set to share. However I cannot see the contents of the folder. I did apply the permissions to the contents when I set up sharing. Any suggestions ?

Connecting from two different MacBooks Pro (also using macOS12.5) allows me to see the contents of the Movies, Music and Pictures folders but I cannot see any of the files or subfolders in the Desktop, Documents, or Downloads folder. I have checked "Get Info" for all the folders to ensure that the sharing permissions are the same for the folders for which I can see the contents and those for which I cannot see the contents.. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Confused by sharing folder My wife and I both show "Shared" on our finders, and we both have "File Sharing" checked on our "System Preferences/Sharing". On my iMac, I can drag a file into "Shared" and there's a "Shared with Pat Shared by Me" folder that contains the file. On her iMac, I can't drag anything into "Shared" and I don't know where the file that I shared with her is. We have family sharing (She's the organizer). I can copy files from my computer to hers using the finder to show both of our computers. What should I see in the Shared folders? How do I put files in there to use them?

Do you need to use the "Drop Box" folder in your shared public folder to share files? I've been using file sharing to transfer files over to my new Mac, and I noticed that within the public folder under my network, there's a folder called "Drop Box". I understand that the purpose of this folder is to share files, but what is the purpose of having this within your shared public folder when you already have the public folder itself?
