The ‘new’ QuickTime X has been around since Max OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 (2009). As you will have noticed, it doesn’t have the A/V Controls that the prior 32-bit version had. QuickTime v10.x doesn’t have all of the functionality of QuickTime 7.x. It’s a different program with a familiar name. Things have been re-designed from the ground up, with some different functions.

Use a different video editor or media player if you want to tweak A/V Controls.
