Garbled voice

Using iPhone X with iOS 16, caller hears my voice garbled. Sound checks ok using voice memo. Also I’m unable to hear caller unless using speaker.

If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker - Apple Support
